This three-part class introduces you to the language of astrology by studying your own chart.
We’ll first look at the elements and qualities, the building blocks to understand the meanings of the signs. You’ll receive a customized packet containing your own chart and scoreboards that we’ll examine together in the group. Then we’ll look at the signs in detail and introduce the planets, focusing on the Sun and Moon, the chart’s Luminaries. Then we’ll examine the meanings of the houses, concentrating on the Ascendant (Rising Sign) and Midheaven. Finally, we’ll look at the combination of your Sun, Moon, and Ascendant positions—giving you the basics to understand your chart.
This is a series of three online video seminars using Zoom. We’ll meet on these dates and times:
Feb 3, 10, and 17 from 6:30-8:00 PM
Prerequisites: No prior knowledge of astrology needed. You’ll need a computer, tablet, or phone capable of running Zoom and an internet connection capable of video calls. Please install Zoom before the first meeting by going to zoom.us, or from Apple’s App Store for iOS devices, or Google’s Play Store for Android devices. Your personalized packet will be a PDF file, so you also need to open (and possibly print) PDF files.
Required data: Please email your birth date, place, and time to firstname.lastname@example.org in addition to registering for the class series. Everyone in the class will have access to your chart.
Cost: $45 for all three sessions.
Looking forward to exploring astrology with you!

Starting my study before I was a teenager, I’ve immersed myself in astrology for more than fifty years. I’ve developed software professionally for almost forty years, and my passion is combining computerized techniques with natal astrology and the study of planetary cycles and how they affect us in the world. I taught astrology when I lived in California, and I’m delighted to begin teaching here in Cedar Rapids, where I live with my husband, John Schwartzkopf.
