Nature & Forest Therapy Experience
October 14, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm$10 – $20
Let’s explore the presence of time and place with urban nature immersion – experiencing autumn and a twilight walk with the land around NewBo. Nature and Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing, Shinrin-Yoku, or Nature Immersion, is a body-focused practice of connection with Self and our Nature Kin. Together, we bathe in the good medicine of the land. Much research has been done on the restorative benefits of Forest Therapy and time spent with the more-than-human world. The UK website, Dose of Nature, notes that hundreds of clinical and non-clinical studies have been done and show numerous positive effects, including reductions in stress, anxiety, depression, mental fatigue, anger, and pain. Improvements noted include better cognitive functioning, sleep, mood, confidence, and creativity. Time with nature also boosts our immune systems, regulates blood pressure, improves relationships, increases feelings of gratitude, and SO MUCH MORE! Forest Therapy is not exercise, hiking, or a naturalist-style walk. It is an act of reciprocity, connection, and healing. Join certified guide Emelia Sautter and her Nature & Forest Therapy Practice, Good Medicine, for this therapeutic experience.
